Rescue units responded to two fires this morning.

By the time they were called to a house fire in Plant City around 5:30 a.m., the two-story wood structure was engulfed in flames, said Ronnie Rivera, spokesman for the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

The house, at East Trapnell Road and Nesmith Road, was abandoned and nobody was inside, Rivera said.

Officials said a cause has not been determined.

At 6:45 a.m. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue units responded to a fire at a Madison Avenue and 50th Street gas station. A garbage truck caught fire while refueling, officials said.

No injuries were reported, but the truck that caught fire and a second that was exposed suffered damaged, the fire rescue said.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to contain the fire.
