The co-owner of a Lutz gymnasium has been accused of collecting thousands of dollars of sales tax from his customers and not paying that money to the state.

David G. Galloway was charged on a warrant with theft of state funds. He was arrested on the felony count on July 16 and released from the Pasco County jail two days later after posting $20,000 bail, records show.

Galloway, 48, 6301 S. West Shore Blvd., Tampa, is part owner of the Anytime Fitness gym at 1408 N. Dale Mabry Highway in Lutz.

According to a news release issued by the state’s Department of Revenue, Galloway collected sales tax from customers at his gym between October 2010 and October 2013, but failed to send the state all of the taxes collected. The state says he owes about $26,000.
