A 77-year-old woman was struck and killed today as she was crossing U.S. Highway 301 in Riverview.

About 3:12 p.m. on Monday, Sidnee Annastahia Young, 26, of Tampa, was westbound on Lake St. Charles Boulevard in the inside lane approaching Highway 301, the report said. The woman, identified as Luciene Marie Joseph Fethere of Riverview, was crossing eastbound on Highway 301, south of the intersection in a marked crosswalk.

Young failed to see Fethere and as a result the front right of her 2008 Ford F-350 struck the woman in the center travel lane, according to troopers. Young stopped facing southbound in the inside lane.

Neither Young, nor her passenger, were injured, troopers said.

Fethere suffered serious injuries and was transported to Tampa General Hospital where she later died.

Troopers said that charges are pending.

The crash closed southbound Highway 301 for several hours.
