A judge has set bail at $500,000 for a Citrus County man charged with taking his young daughters from their legal guardian and traveling with them to Montana.
The Bozeman Daily Chronicle in Montana reports that 45-year-old Edward John Peters appeared before District Judge Holly Brown on Tuesday.
Peters was arrested at Prairie Dog Town State Park campground in south-central Montana on Sept. 19. Court records said a vehicle matching the description of the one Peters was found in drove off without paying for gasoline in Laurel the previous day,
Peters is wanted for interfering with child custody for taking his daughters, ages 11 and 6, from Inverness on Sept. 8.
Chief Deputy Gallatin County attorney Eric Kitzmiller said Florida officials asked that Peters be held on $5 million bail.
