A 12-year-old girl suffered non-life threatening injuries this morning when she was struck in a crosswalk while walking to school in Seminole Heights this morning.

Police say the girl and a group of friends were crossing 22nd Street at a clearly marked crosswalk at Diana Street just before 7 a.m. when she was struck by a southbound 2002 Chrysler driven by an unidentified 47-year-old man near Foster Elementary School.

The driver failed to stop for the girl, who was walking behind the group, police say.

The girl was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police say.

The driver, who told police he did not see the girl crossing the street, was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian at a crosswalk.
