A Brandon High School student crossing the street was struck by a car driven by another teen this morning, deputies said.

Andrew C. Owens 15, was taken to Tampa General Hospital and listed in stable condition with non-life-theatening injuries, deputies said.

Andrew was walking across Parsons Avenue at Summerfield Way when he was hit by a 2000 Honda Accord driven by 17-year-old Benjamin A. Bell, deputies said.

Andrew’s parent was at the scene, deputies said.

The sheriff’s office released no other details.

The incident occurred on International Walk and Bike to School Day, created to promote ways for children to safety walk or ride bicycles to school.
