TAMPA — The City of Tampa has received a $20,000 grant from TD Bank and the Arbor Day Foundation for planting trees in the city.
Bank officials announced the grant Friday afternoon. Tampa was one of 10 U.S. cities to win the grants. Also on the list were Miami, Charleston, S.C. and the Bronx in New York City.
City officials said the money will be pay for planting new trees in the Tampa Heights and V.M. Ybor neighorhoods.
Mayor Bob Buckhorn has pledged to plant 1,000 trees a year across the city.
