TAMPA — A year before the next Tampa City Council election, the campaign chests are filling.
District 6 candidate Guido Maniscalco leads the way, having raised more than $9,300 since declaring his candidacy Jan. 7.
Maniscalco, 29, placed last in the 2011 race for District 1, the citywide seat won by Mike Suarez. Maniscalco is staying closer to home this time and running for the District 6 seat being vacated by Council Chairman Charlie Miranda.
Suarez, the only incumbent who has filed to run for re-election so far, has raised $8,220 so far.
District 6 candidate Thomas Castellano has raised $1,700.
Retired Tampa police officer Borthland Murray has raised $950 for his race in District 5.
