After 2011 reforms designed to modernize the state’s unemployment compensation system, untold numbers of applicants have faced benefit delays or denials.
The U.S. Department of Labor said the changes violated federal discrimination laws.
Nearly one year later, the state disagrees with the federal assessment. A proposed settlement remains unsigned, and no changes have been been implemented.
