WASHINGTON — Amtrak is canceling some of its trains and modifying the schedules for others because of the winter storm that’s battering the Northeast and the South.
However, the Silver Star, which stops in Tampa, is scheduled to run a shortened route from Jacksonville to Miami.
Also, the Silver Meteor is canceled from New York to Miami.
Acela Express trains between Washington and Boston, Northeast Regional trains between Boston and Norfolk, Va., Keystone Service between New York and Harrisburg, Pa., and Empire Service between New York and Albany, N.Y., are operating at reduced frequency or modified schedules Thursday.
Amtrak has canceled Auto Train, Crescent, Carolinian, Palmetto and Piedmont trains.
Amtrak said it is contacting customers and changing reservations.
