A man was fatally shot in front of hundreds of onlookers at a Bradenton youth football practice Thursday night, police said.

Brenton D. Coleman Sr., 39, of Bradenton was killed about 8 p.m. at the 13th Avenue Dream Center, 1011 24th St. E., police said.

Investigators said two gunmen with their identities concealed singled out Coleman and began shooting at him in a crowd of 300 to 400 people, who were watching their children practice football.

Coleman attempted to run but was chased by the men and shot, police said.

It wasn't clear whether Coleman was at the park to watch his children practice football.

Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-634-TIPS (8477) or police Detective James Curulla at (941) 747-3011, Ext. 2224.
