The regular summer storm pattern returns for the Tampa Bay area today, with a warm day and a chance of afternoon rain.
Bryan Bennett, News Channel 8 meteorologist, said there was a water spout off the coast of Citrus County about 9 a.m. It was part of a small storm that was moving onshore.
Bennett added that it looks like a nice day for the beach in the Tampa Bay area, with just isolated storms and lots of sunshine.
The chance of rain is only 30 percent along the shore, about 40 percent near Interstate 75, but it rises to 60 percent for inland areas near Highlands County, he said. That area already got about 3 inches of rain this morning.
The inland storms are expected about 5 p.m. and will likely last until about 9 p.m.
The area might finally get a break from the daily rains this week with only a 30 percent chance of rain each day and highs near 90 and lows in the upper 70s.
