A sunny and hot start today for the Tampa Bay area then the storms roll in later this afternoon and evening.
The National Weather Service expects a high near 91 for today and that will push the heat index values as high as 99. The chance of rain is 50 percent. The rain will stay around until about 11 p.m., then there will be a low of 77.
Bryan Bennett, meteorologist for News Channel, warns area residents that the storms this afternoon could be heavy at times, and also have lightning and strong winds.
More afternoon rain is due on Monday and Tuesday with a high near 92. The chance of precipitation is 50 percent. Again, the rain will stay in the area until about 11 p.m.
Wednesday and Thursday look the same, but with a higher chance of rain. It will remain hot with highs in the lower 90s.
The rain should ease off for the weekend when the chances fall to about 50 percent for Friday and Saturday.
