Q: How are the tight ends looking this preseason? And do you think quarterback Josh Freeman is more focused this year than last?

– Justin Large, Dallas

A: The tight ends have not looked special this preseason. We've seen very little of Luke Stocker, who suffered a calf strain two days before camp started and has been sidelined until just a couple days ago, and Tom Crabtree has looked ordinary so far. Nate Byham is a player the Bucs like a lot, too, and he has flashed a bit here and there, but not enough to push either Stocker or Crabtree for the starter's job.

As for Freeman, he looks very focused and very confident. Not sure he wasn't focused last year, but he appears to have taken another big step in his development. Just seems a lot more in command and comfortable with the offense and at the position. The Bucs have been very happy with his play in camp so far.
