With the resignation of Eric Shinseki amid the VA scandal and Sloan Gibson left to fill the void as interim secretary, wouldn’t it be prudent to fill that position with somebody with outside practical experience instead of a temp?
The first person who comes to my mind with impeccable credentials to fill that void is Tampa’s own beloved Ron Hytoff, who retired from Tampa General Hospital without controversy. Coaxing him out of retirement might be tough, but it would be worth the call.
On another note, White House press secretary Jay Carney resigned the same day as Shinseki and was replaced by another Tampa connection, Josh Earnest. This could have been handled a lot better in my opinion, with Carney replacing himself with his uncanny double, Drew Carey, who’s almost as funny as Jay.
Wouldn’t it be nice to hear the opening of a White House press briefing begin with “Come on down!” for a change?
