Because of politics, more than 5 million American people will be uninsured. Twenty four states, including Florida, are still refusing to expand Medicaid. These people do not qualify for traditional Medicaid but would qualify under the expansion, and they do not make enough money to qualify for financial help to buy coverage.
It’s the poorest people who will be missing out. The media should be focusing on these people and bring attention to this horrendous situation.
The federal government will cover 100 percent of costs of the expansion in 2014, 2015 and 2016. In 2020 and beyond, the government will cover 90 percent of the cost.
As Americans, shouldn’t the pursuit of happiness also include access to health care?
