Normally I would have been upset with Gov. Rick Scott’s decision to veto legislation raising speed limits. But after 40 years driving a truck, texting and driving is a game changer. Years ago, when drunken driving was fairly common, I could usually spot a drunk driver a mile away, weaving, slowing down, etc. Now with texting, a good driver can go from good driving to idiot in two seconds. It catches you by surprise when all of a sudden they’re on the shoulder, slowing from 70 mph to 40 mph. In my opinion, texting is worse then drunken driving. I don’t blame the cops for being nervous on the shoulder.
