In a pair of solemn ceremonies a few hours apart, the bodies of two soldiers killed at Fort Hood last week were received at Tampa International Airport on Friday.

The body of Army Staff Sgt. Carlos A. Lazaney Rodriguez, 38, arrived on United Airlines Flight 1640 from Texas in mid-afternoon. Shortly after 7 p.m., the body of Army Sgt. First Class Daniel Ferguson, 39, arrived on Southwest Airlines Flight 192.

The Patriot Guard Riders motorcycle organization provided escort. A number of local troop support organizations were on hand to show support.

Rodriguez and Ferguson were two of the three soldiers at Fort Hood who were gunned down April 2 at the sprawling Texas Army post by Army Spc. Ivan Lopez, who later committed suicide.

Visitation for Rodriguez will be held at Blount & Curry Funeral Home-MacDill Avenue Chapel from 9-11 a.m. Monday, followed by a funeral service. A private funeral will be held Saturday morning for Ferguson at the Resurrection Catholic Chuch in Lakeland. Interment for both will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
