Tasty Morsels On TV This Week

"Take Home Chef," 3 p.m. today, TLC

Chef Curtis Stone ambushes a family of five and cooks a meal for them of pasta with turkey meatballs, homemade waffles and ice cream topped with caramelized apples and raisins. A Take Home Fitness Trainer does not drop by afterward.

"Most Unique McDonald's," 9 p.m. tonight, Travel Channel

Peter Holden, self-described as the No. 1 McDonald's fan, leads the viewer on a tour of his favorite examples of the fast-food giant. Holden claims to have dined at 12,000 of their 30,000 worldwide locations. These include a gourmet version in Montreal and a two-story McDonald's in Orlando that features an arcade.

"Ace of Cakes," 10 pm. Thursday, Food Network

Pastry chef extraordinaire Duff Goldman and his entourage of mumbling emo cake designers fashion replicas of an Army tank, Mack truck and Viking ship.

"Modern Marvels," midnight Friday, History

The history of the soft drink is examined, including the origins of ginger ale and root beer. Speaking of which, who authorized Mr. Pibb's brand to be changed to Pibb Xtra? Was there a petition? Because it needs to be changed back. All of this reminds us of comedian Mitch Hedberg's joke that describes Mr. Pibb as a bad imitation of Dr Pepper because "the dude didn't even get his degree."
