Q: Do you have references for professional services for a residential landscape master plan? We are re-doing our landscape and would like to include irrigation, lighting and Florida-friendly plant selection in the design.

A: The Extension Service doesn't recommend one irrigation, lighting contractor or landscape designer over another because it isn't fair to everyone else in the industry. For irrigation contractors, go to the Florida Irrigation Society (FIS) website at www.fisstate.org/homeownercontractorlisting.html. For lighting contractors, you can check out the Yellow Pages or use an Internet search tool for local companies. For landscape design, you can go to the Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association website at www.fngla.org/certifications/find-a-certified-professional/. Look under "find a certified professional" in the right-hand column and input the information needed for your request. Many companies provide all three services. You can always check with the Better Business Bureau, too, if you have contractors you are considering.
