TAMPA - Some giggled. Some flirted. Some boogied the night away.
In many respects, Friday evening’s prom at the Holiday Inn Tampa Westshore was like any other: Loud music, lots of dancing, lots of chaperons. One thing was different, though — all the teens were or had been fighting cancer or serious blood disorders.
Side effects of their treatment kept some of the kids away from their traditional high school proms, so a local philanthropic group of businesswomen called High Hopes in High Heels stepped in, hosting a ‘Casino Royale’-themed prom for teenage patients at the Children’s Cancer Center.
