Spot a lionfish in the wild? Score a free t-shirt

Spot an invasive lionfish while out in Florida waters? Report it using the new Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) “Report Florida Lionfish” app and you could score a free t-shirt.

The first 250 people who successfully complete the app reporting form will receive a free “Lionfish Control Team” t-shirt.

Lionfish are an invasive species that negatively impact Florida’s reefs by competing for food and resources with native wildlife.

The app includes educational information on lionfish and safe handling guidelines, as well as a data-reporting form so divers and anglers can share information about their sighting or harvest with the FWC. App users can take and share a photo of their lionfish catch.

T-shirts will be awarded one per household and a valid email address must be provided to win. Winners will be sent an email from Saltwater@MyFWC.com and participants must reply with their complete mailing address and selected shirt size within 30 days of receiving the email.

Some restrictions apply: entries must be recent and photos of lionfish in tanks or aquariums and pictures of photos are not eligible.

To learn more about lionfish, visit http://MyFWC.com/ and click on “Marine Life.”
