Kids score gear at Clearwater fishing rodeo

The event has been moved to Sunday beginning at 8 a.m.

Tampa Bay area kids ages 5 - 12 are invited to have fun next weekend at the annual YMCA Kids' Fishing Rodeo at Clearwater Beach.

The Clearwater YMCA is hosting the non-competitive catch-and-release event at Pier 60, located at 1 Causeway Blvd., Clearwater, on Saturday (May 3).

The event is open to the first 250 children ages 5-12 who register.

Children will receive a new rod and reel, bait, T-shirt and lunch with their paid $10 entry when received by Friday, May 2. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

Day of event registration increases to $15 per child.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. and fishing is from 9 to 11 a.m.

To register, parents should download a brochure or visit the YMCA branch at 1005 S. Highland Ave., Clearwater.
