Summer is almost here but that doesn't mean your kids' brains have to completely shut down from the heat.

Avid readers over the hot summer months will be rewarded by Barnes & Noble when they complete a reading log.

Children in reading level up to sixth grade can earn a free book by reading any eight books and turning in a reading log at a participating location.

The program runs from May 20 through Sept. 2.

Choices of free titles include “Sideways Stories From Wayside School,” “Snuggle Buddies,” “Dragonbreath,” “Philippa Fisher's Fairy Godsister,” “The World According to Humphrey,” “Bad Kitty School Daze” and more.

Offer is good while supplies last. There is a limit of one free book per customer.
