Free ‘Fix-A-Leak’ workshop helps Tampa homeowners save money

Homeowners can save money and valuable water when they sign up to take a free home repair workshop sponsored by the City of Tampa Water Department.

A Fix-A-Leak workshop is available at no cost to qualified City of Tampa Water Department customers.

The workshop will help participants identify and repair leaking toilets, dripping faucets, leaking toilets and sink stop valves.

The first class being offered will take place on Monday, April 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Hillsborough Technical Education Centers (HiTEC) Erwin campus. Additional class dates offered are May 5, June 9, June 23, July 21, Aug. 25 and Sept. 8.

Tuition for workshop participation will be covered by vouchers and can be obtained by interested City of Tampa water department customers by calling (813) 274-8121, #5.

One non-transferable voucher is available per qualified City of Tampa utility account holder on a first-come, first served basis. Each workshop is limited to 12 participants.

Once a voucher is obtained, registration for the Fix-A-Leak workshop can be completed online at www.erwin.edu (select “part-time courses”).

HiTEC’s Erwin campus is located at 2010 E Hillsborough Ave., Tampa.
