On Friday, Feb. 20 and Saturday, Feb. 21 the lights will come on in downtown Tampa.
“Lights On Tampa” will again return to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and from 6:30 until 11 p.m. the city will be lit with multiple artworks in and around the park.
Some of the displays will be temporary and others will become permanent installations, including:
♦ Urban Pixels: a series of interactive lighted shapes for play and creativity.
♦ Up-Lit Words: a phrase was chosen to be projected on a building to start conversation.
♦ Sky Striker: Rivergate Tower will be transformed into a giant carnival game.
♦ River Glow: an underwater installation that will become a permanent feature along the Riverwalk.
♦ Recurrence: an installation that evokes the tidal flow of the Hillsborough River through programmable kinetic LEDs.
♦ As part of the event, Nick Cave’s HEARD dance performance will take place at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. each night.
All events and activities are free and open to the public.
Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park is located at 600 N. Ashley Dr., Tampa. Parking is available in metered spots along the streets and in public garages downtown.
