Fans wasted no time buying up tickets to see two of the biggest stars in late-night television perform in the Tampa area.
Tickets for Jimmy Fallon’s Clean Cut Comedy Tour at Tampa Theatre on Oct. 16 and Jay Leno at the Capitol Theatre in Clearwater both went on sale over the weekend.
Fallon sold out in 42 minutes, and Leno’s tickets sold out during a member’s-only presale that happened before they were available to the public, according to Ruth Eckerd Hall Inc., which is producing both events. Leno will step down after 22 years as host of NBC’s “Tonight Show” on Feb. 7, after which Fallon is set to take over. “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” currently airs after the “Tonight Show” on NBC.
Leno’s Feb. 9 show will be the first event at the Capitol since the 92-year-old theater shut down for renovations this year.
Late-night TV fans can still purchase tickets to see Craig Ferguson, host of “The Late Late Show” on CBS, when he performs at the Palladium at St. Petersburg College on Nov. 18.
