Gas prices are rising and many evacuees might have to stay here for a long time before they can go back to rebuilding what was destroyed.

Katrina's Ripple Felt At Home
A family in Riverview opens its home for evacuees from New Orleans. Shelters open in Tarpon Springs to accommodate the residents of Gulf Coast fleeing the destruction. The fear of rising gas prices has people canceling their Labor Day plans. Schools and colleges are opening their doors for students so that their education is not interrupted. Katrina may have spared the Bay Area but its effect on the Bay Area is being felt in several life altering ways. The local impact is just starting to be felt.
