President Bush is marking Hurricane Katrina's devastating blow by celebrating those he says have "dedicated their lives to the renewal of New Orleans."
Anger, Sadness Mark Katrina Anniversary
Hurricane survivors rang bells Wednesday to mark the moment Katrina hit New Orleans exactly two years earlier. While many mourned, anger over the stalled rebuilding was still palpable throughout the Gulf Coast region, where the feeling of loss doesn't seem to subside.

The storm hammered the Gulf Coast on Aug. 29, 2005 with huge waves and high winds. Water swirled in the streets and flooded homes.
Winds hit 135 mph as the storm pounded the Mississippi coast. Storm surge upto 22 feet was recorded in Bay St. Louis.
Homes were flooded to the rooflines where the storm made landfall. As much as 20 feet of water was standing in one poor neighborhood on New Orleans' east side.
The American Red Cross is opening a shelter in Pinellas County at the First United Methodist Church in Tarpon Springs. Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi residents will receive lodging, food, water, medical help, and mental health counseling if needed.
