PLANT CITY - Christian comedy group Humor 2 Outreach will perform at Evangelical Presbyterian Church Saturday, June 22, at 7 p.m. for an evening of laughter that will benefit not only Little Lambs International, a mission that builds orphanages for children in Guatemala, but also a group from Evangelical Presbyterian Church who will travel to Guatemala later this summer to help build an orphanage. Doors open at 6 p.m. and refreshments will be served.
Humor 2 Outreach was recently organized by manager Pete O'Shea, a radio personality for a local Christian radio station. Their goal is to bring family friendly comedy to churches with a poignant message at it's heart while helping to raise support for missions and outreach programs at the church.
"We want to help churches raise money and awareness for these good causes," said Josh Loudermilk, who provides devotional messages for the group. "Rather than washing people's cars, we want to make them laugh."
The evening will feature O'Shea, Johnny Roberts, Bull Ohse, Juanita Lolita, Frank Hall and Loudermilk. Each comic will perform a brief act before introducing the next comic.
"The weird thing about these comics is we have nothing in common," Loudermilk said. "The interesting thing about this group is we come from different Christian backgrounds and very different church traditions."
Loudermilk explained that what makes Humor 2 Outreach unique from other comic groups is that they are able to reach a universal audience while providing family friendly laughs.
"The idea is to hit different styles of comedy," he said. "And my job is to reach people with the love of God."
Tickets are $10 and in advance or $15 at the door. For information regarding ticket sales or Humor 2 Outreach, contact team administrator Melissa Loudermilk at (813) 532-5737 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
