Prom season is upon us. And for many teen girls, that means stress over the dress — particularly if you can't afford the price.
The Belle of the Ball Project will distribute prom dresses to low-income high school girls from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 22, Oct. 6 and 20, and Nov. 3, at the Seminole Mall, 11201 Park Blvd. N., Seminole, next to Ross Department Store.
About 4,000 dresses will be up for grabs, along with shoes and purses. Distribution is open to all high school girls in need in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. No appointment needed. There is no charge for the dresses; a $1 to $5 donation is requested, but not required.
Dresses also can be donated at the distribution site on those dates.
Founded in 2003, the Belle of the Ball Project Inc. is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide homecoming and prom dresses to needy high school girls. It has given away more than 3,000 dresses.
