NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Fourteen minority students are getting a close look at nursing school in New Orleans.
The junior and senior high school students are participating in the three-day Future Nurses Institute, which winds up Wednesday at the LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans School of Nursing.
The students are from Xavier University Preparatory High School, St. Augustine High School, St. Mary's Academy High School and Warren Easton High School.
They hear lectures, talk to faculty experts and get hands-on experience in the hospital lab and simulation labs including a birthing simulation.
The nursing school has held a Future Nurses Institute each summer since 2008.
