The organizers of next week’s Tampa Bay Heart Walk are aiming to raise more than $2 million.
More than 30,000 people are expected to participate in the annual American Heart Association walk, which will end with a celebration inside Raymond James Stadium.
The event starts at 8 a.m. Nov. 2 at the stadium, 4201 N, Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa.
Besides the 3.2-mile walk, festivities will include the honoring of heart disease survivors, as well as live entertainment, games and a kids’ zone. Health and fitness experts also will be on hand at what organizers say is the nation’s ninth-largest heart walk event.
There is no cost to participate in the walk, but participants are encouraged to create or join a team online in advance at www.TampaBayHeartWalk.org. There you can donate and solicit donations from friends and family.
Last year, the proceeds raised by Tampa Bay walkers were part of $9.3 million donated by the Heart Association to Florida-based research, education and community programs.
The Tampa Tribune and TBO.com are corporate sponsors of the walk. For more information, visit www.TampaBayHeartWalk.org.
