PROVO, Utah (AP) — A 27-year-old man with developmental disabilities is dead after being hit by a train in Utah County near the Price River.
Utah County deputies say Brent Hall had been on a fishing outing with his longtime caretaker Sunday evening when he started walking back to a caretaker's truck along the train tracks.
Officers tell KSL the crew on a Union Pacific train saw the man and tried to stop, but couldn't do so in time.
Officials say the man had the mental capacity of a 5-year-old and a fascination with trains. His caretaker told authorities he often took Hall on fishing trips and didn't have problems.
