ZEPHYRHILLS — A $5,000 reward is being offered to anyone who can help the FBI catch a man who fired a gun while robbing the Chase Bank on Gall Boulevard last month.

The man shot a round into the floor while a bank employee filled a bag with money during the May 19 heist, the FBI said. The shot was apparently a warning to fill the bag faster, the FBI said.

The armed robber, who pointed the gun into the faces of other bank employees, was described as a white man in his early 20s. He is 5-foot-9 to 6 feet tall, weighs 140 to 160 pounds and has red hair. The man wore a black theatrical mask during the robbery, which happened about 9:12 a.m. at the Chase Bank location at 7800 Gall Blvd.

Witnesses said that a man matching the robber’s description was seen entering a late model four-door Honda Civic, driven by another man who was described only as “an older white male,” the FBI said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
