SPRING HILL — A Spring Hill man was arrested Wednesday on nearly 40 gambling charges, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and agents from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement served a search warrant on Win City, an internet cafe at 5130 Commercial Way, and arrested owner Carlos Alverio. Alverio is accused of continuing to use illegal gaming software after receiving a warning from the sheriff’s office.

Alverio, 56, was arrested on charges of keeping a gambling house, and 37 counts of possession of a gambling device. He was released on $19,250 bond early Thursday morning.

Detectives also seized all of Win City’s computers and $2,597.

He will be arraigned on Nov. 27.
