Centex Homes designed its newest community, Hawk's Point, to attract a range of home buyers.

"The price range appeals to almost any potential home buyer; it's hard to find another community [in the South Shore area] that offers what Hawk's Point does in the same price range," says David Ivin, president of the West Florida division.

The gated, master-planned community will feature single-family homes priced from the high $100,000s, including lot, from Centex's Cottage and Signature collections and town homes priced from the $130,000s, including lot.

The Cottage Collection includes five floor plans with 1,570 to 2,630 square feet of living space. The homes will be built on 40-foot-wide lots. The Signature Collection features seven designs that boast 1,790 to 3.640 square feet of living space. Those homes will be built on 50-foot-wide lots. Town homes will offer 1,451 to 2,053 square feet of living space.

Ivin says models are under construction and should be open for touring in November. A grand opening is set for December.

"The Cottage Collection offers two to four bedrooms with two or three bathrooms and two-car garages," Ivin says. "The Signature Collection features three to six bedrooms and two to 4½ bathrooms with two-car and three-car tandem garages."

Ivin also touts the community's location, saying it's near Interstate 75 and is convenient to downtown Tampa, St. Petersburg and Bradenton.

Hawk's Point "also is within walking distance of the county's new Lennard High School," he says. "And the South Shore campus of Hillsborough Community College, which is under construction, is expected to open next to Lennard High School in 2009."

There also are a number of amenities planned for the community that is bordered on one side by Wolf Branch Creek conservation area.

"Two multi-use pools, playgrounds, basketball courts and several parks" are planned, he says.

"From comfortable, contemporary floor plans to family-friendly amenities and a convenient location, everything about Hawk's Point was designed to make our buyers' lives as easy and enjoyable as possible - including the price," Ivin says.

Upon completion, Hawk's Point will have about 500 single-family homes and about 600 town homes.

To reach Hawk's Point, take I-75 to Exit 240 (State Road 674/College Avenue). Go west and turn right onto to 30th Street. Take 30th Street to 19th Avenue and turn left; the community is on the left. The sales center, 1604 Little Hawk Drive in Ruskin, is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. most days and noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Sunday.
