ST. AUGUSTINE — Forecasters say a small but potent area of thunderstorms caused street flooding and wind damage south of Jacksonville and into St. John's County.
National Weather Service meteorologist Angie Enyedi said Saturday night that penny-sized hail was reported near the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, though some larger hail probably fell.
Near there on radar was an area of rotation, indicating a possible tornado. But Enyedi says no tornado touchdown has been confirmed.
There are reports of strong winds knocking trees and power lines down in St. John's County just west of St. Augustine. Enyedi says some streets were impassible and cars were flooded. She says there also are reports of some water seeping into homes on the west side of Jacksonville.
She says the area of thunderstorms is weakening.
