Downtown road closings, parking plans for Gasparilla

Here is how to navigate the various road closings and parking options when hundreds of thousands of people and pirates invade downtown Tampa on Saturday for the Gasparilla Pirate Fest, according to the City of Tampa.

And, to make matters worse, hockey fans will be headed downtown for a 7 p.m. game between the Colorado Avalanche and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Also, construction will close the Interstate 275 southbound ramp at Tampa Street from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. An alternate route is to travel north on Florida Avenue to Columbus Drive, turn left on Columbus and go to Armenia Avenue, turn left again and head to the I-275 ramp.

These road closures begin at 10 p.m. Friday:

* Bayshore Boulevard and Gandy Boulevard to Platt Street/Channelside Drive.

* Bay to Bay Boulevard from Bayshore Boulevard to Ysabella Street.

* The Davis Island Bridge off ramp onto northbound Bayshore Boulevard .

3 a.m. Saturday

* Bayshore Boulevard from Brorein Street and to Platt Street.

* Platt Street/Channelside Drive from Plant Avenue to Franklin Street.

5:30 a.m. Saturday

* Selmon Crosstown- eastbound Willow Avenue off ramp (Exit 4).

* Willow Avenue from Swann Avenue to Platt Avenue.

(southbound lanes closed only; Willow Ave will be one-way northbound)

7 a.m. Saturday

* Ashley Drive from Brorein Street to Jackson Street.

* Brorein Street from Jefferson Avenue to Parker Street.

* Franklin Street from Channelside Drive to Harbour Island Bridge.

* Old Water Street from Florida Avenue to Franklin Street.

* Washington Street from Ashley Drive to Tampa Street.

* Whiting Street from Ashley Drive to Tampa Street.

9 a.m. Saturday

* Kennedy from Hyde Park Avenue to Ashley Drive (eastbound).

* Ashley Drive from Tampa Street Split to Jackson Street.

* Jackson Street from Ashley Drive to Tampa Street.

* Kennedy Boulevard from Florida Avenue to Plant Ave (westbound).

* Madison Street from Ashley Drive to Tampa Street.

* Madison Street from Florida Avenue to Tampa Street (westbound).

* Twiggs Street from Ashley Drive to Tampa Street.

* Twiggs Street from Florida Avenue to Tampa Street (westbound).

* Zack Street from Ashley Drive to Tampa Street.

* Zack Street from Florida Avenue to Tampa Street (westbound).

* Polk Street from Ashley Drive to Tampa Street.

* Polk Street from Florida Avenue to Tampa Street (westbound).

* Tyler Street from Florida Avenue to Tampa Street (westbound).

* Whiting Street from Florida Avenue to Franklin Street (westbound).

Here is information on Tampa parking garages for Saturday:

* Fort Brooke Garage - $10 flat rate and will open at 6 a.m.

* Whiting Street Garage - $10 flat rate and will open at 9 a.m.

* Jackson Street Parking Lot - hourly rate of $1.60/hour, with a $9.50 daily maximum and will open at 7 a.m.

* Poe Garage – hourly rate of $1.20/hour, with a $7 daily maximum and will open at 6 a.m.

* Royal Regional Lot – $10 flat rate and will open at 7 a.m.

* Tampa Convention Center Garage - $10 flat rate and will open at 5 a.m.

* Twiggs Street Garage - hourly rates of $1.20/hour, with a $7 daily maximum and will open at 6 a.m.

* South Regional Garage - $10 flat rate and will be open from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. for parade parking. After 10 a.m. parking will be restricted to Forum Reserve Passes.

* All numbered spaces on Kennedy Boulevard and south of Kennedy are enforced up until midnight at the standard hourly rate.

Here are parking options for the Tampa Bay Times Forum:

* The Selmon Expressway Lots - $12 flat rate for hockey.

* South Regional Garage - $10 flat rate and will be open from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. for parade parking. After 10 a.m. parking will be restricted to Forum Reserve Passes.

For access to downtown and south Tampa from Ybor City, consider using the following garages and utilizing HART services.

* Centro Ybor and Palm Avenue Garages - $10 flat rate and will open at 9 a.m. HART park and ride available from both locations.

HART will be offering extra streetcar, bus, and trolley services. For more information, call (813) 254-4278.
