Military treated to half-price tickets at spring training season opener

The Tampa Bay Rays will honor active duty and retired service men and women at their spring training season opener at 1:05 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28.

 

A special military discount is being offered for the game at Charlotte Sports Park against the Baltimore Orioles. Active or retired personnel showing a valid military ID can purchase up to four half-price general admission seats at the box office on game day. Regular price tickets range from $12 to $33.50.

 

The game will also feature some special performances and appearances of military personnel.

 

The delivery of the American Flag and game ball will be attended by the U.S. Special Operations Command Parachute Team. The Para-Commandos will perform a precision free-fall demonstration, landing in Charlotte Sports Park and Army Sergeant First Class Kyle Margelofsky will throw out the first ceremonial pitch.

 

Sergeant Margelofsky has deployed 10 times to Iraq and Afghanistan and has been awarded the Army Commendation Medal with Valor, the Bronze Star with Valor and the Purple Heart.

 

Charlotte Sports Park is located at 2300 El Jobean Road, Port Charlotte.
