Hillsborough County Fire Rescue will celebrate its 40th anniversary with free family fun this weekend.

On Saturday (Aug. 24), from 10 a.m. to noon, two fire station locations will host free activities and refreshments:

• Station #42, 5209 Ehrlich Road, Tampa

• Station #37, 5602 Providence Road, Riverview

The open house events will feature displays, fire safety education, tours and the chance for kids to explore trucks and rescue vehicles.

The Junior Firefighter Challenge arena will let children wear real gear and practice professional firefighting skills such as hooking up and spraying hoses, running obstacle courses and rescuing a mannequin “victim.”
