TAMPA The World War II-era ship, the SS American Victory will take guests on a rare cruise into Tampa Bay on Saturday.

The museum and historic merchant ship, which is docked year-round in Tampa behind the Florida Aquarium at 705 Channelside Drive, will depart at 11 a.m. for a four-hour cruise featuring live entertainment and big band music.

Admission is $99 for adults, $69 for active military members or veterans and $49 for children. Tickets are available at ticketweb.com or by calling (866) 468-7630.

The semi-annual fundraiser cruise helps fund the maintenance and preservation of the ship, which is one of only four of its type in the U.S. that are still operational.

Built in 1945, the ship served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam, and is recognized in the National Register of Historic Places.
