Tampa Theatre offers red-carpet treatment at Oscars party

Published:

The Tampa Theatre will bring a taste of the glitz and glamour of the Oscars to downtown Tampa on March 2.

For the 16th year, the historic theater is hosting a live telecast of the Academy Awards and inviting guests to dress up and walk the red carpet as “adoring fans” and “paparazzi” treat them like stars.

Tickets for Hollywood Awards Night are $30, including a ride around the block in a limousine, a reception with appetizers beginning at 6:30 p.m., and doughnuts and coffee after the award for Best Picture is announced. Student tickets are $20 with a valid student ID.

The pre-show telecast will start at 8 p.m., followed by ABC’s live broadcast of the 86th Annual Academy Awards on the big screen.

There’s no dress code, but guests are encouraged to dress in movie-themed costumes, or let the glamour of Hollywood inspire their outfits.

The reception will also include a silent auction with items from local businesses.

Proceeds benefit Tampa Theatre’s artistic and educational programs and the building’s ongoing restoration.
