In 1983 “The Price is Right” introduced what is probably its simplest, yet most-popular game off all time: Plinko.
This week, the long-running game show celebrates Plinko's 30th anniversary with an all-Plinko episode set to air Friday at 11 a.m. on CBS.
Plinko involves dropping chips from the top of a huge peg board and waiting for them to land in slots at the bottom. Normally, those slots pay out $0, $100, $500, $1000 or $10,000 prizes. For the Plinko episode, some of those regular prizes have been replaced by special prizes such as vacations, and the show's signature prize, a (newww) car.
Contestants get one free chip, and can earn up to four more by correctly guessing the first or last digit of an item's price.
“The Price Is Right,” hosted by Drew Carey, premiered for its 42nd season on Monday.
