A 27-year-old man has died after he was he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle Friday night in Seminole.
David Gaddy, of Pinellas Park, was hit after riding into the path of a Chrysler Pacifica traveling south on Park Street, near 16th Avenue North, at about 10:34 p.m., the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
Gaddy was thrown from his bike and taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
Deputies said Gaddy was crossing Park Street mid-block, not in a crosswalk, and did not have the right of way.
His bicycle was not equipped with lights or reflectors, deputies said.
The driver of the car, 52-year-old John Patrick Campbell, was not injured.
Deputies said that alcohol or controlled substances do appear to be a factor in the crash for Gaddy, but not for Campbell.
The sheriff's office is continuing to investigate.
