Vue19, 200 Central Ave, St. Petersburg, Fla.; (727) 821-4600
The Venue: A posh version of the Jetsons' living room, complete with a killer view. Translation – everything is white and modern.
Hours: 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Thursday; 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. Friday; 12 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday
The allure: The view from the 19th story balcony. And it seems to be a pretty people magnet. Eye-candy for everyone.
Possible grievances: The cover charge, drink prices and its elitists' persona.
Last call: It has white leather couches, bouncers dressed like the Secret Service, techno music and you take an elevator up – if the bouncer thinks you're dressed properly (no hats!).
This is a trendy and pricey club in the Bank of America building in downtown St. Pete. The good news is you'll get what you pay for because the drinks are made perfectly strong.
The other sure thing in this "lounge" is the exquisite view overlooking a few condo high rises right off the water. And the glass windows that around most of the place are soundproof, leaving the balcony the ideal spot to post-up and drink if the bumping tunes annoy you.
True clubs are definitely not for everyone and the stuffiness of them can be a turn-off to some people. All things considered, Vue19 isn't obnoxious despite the set-up, and those looking for a mini La Vegas- style atmosphere should take the ride up.
