The Patio, 421 S. MacDill Ave, Tampa, Fla.; (813) 873-7846

The Venue: A modest resort pool deck layout, sans the pool, with live music and an indoor bar option.

Hours: 2 p.m. to 3 a.m. Monday through Friday, 12 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday and Sunday

The Allure: For a place setting up shop in South Tampa, the drink specials are just as refreshing as the chilled under-the-stars atmosphere.

Possible Grievances: Those looking for a night of excitement may be disappointed by the laid-back groove.

Last call: The South Tampa area was in dire need of a true outdoor chill bar, that isn't shoulder-to-shoulder territory, and this joint has answered the call. While the location is away from the area's hot spots, the luxury of breathing and being able to hear the person you're chatting with, makes up for the lack of surrounding nightlife options.

Having regularly scheduled live music acts performing outside Thursday to Sunday and executing college bar-like drink prices, makes for an ideal spot that encourages one to go worry-free all around.

Armed with a full arsenal of bottled brews and plenty of Margaritaville-styled drinks, patrons strolling into this casual environment can kick-back at the assortment of patio tables and sip, or chug, away.

The only thing that could get on your nerves is listening to the array of professionals who come in here, complaining about their corporate misery. Let's keep the positive vibe working, folks.

Moonlighting is an occasional feature that gives you the inside scoop on local nightlife venues.
