Cyrus, Thicke to perform at Tampa's Jingle Ball

It's going to be an MTV VMAs reunion in Tampa this winter, because the award show's show-stealers, Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus, are booked to perform at the 93.3 FLZ Jingle Ball.

The radio station announced the headliners for the Dec. 18 pop music festival at the Forum live on the air Friday during “The Kane Show.”

Other stars in the lineup for fifth annual Jingle Ball include Latin heartthrob Enrique Iglesias, pop-punk band Paramore, rapper Flo Rida, Nickelodeon actress and pop singer Ariana Grande and R&B star Jason Derulo.

Cyrus, whose new album “Bangerz” came out earlier this week, has seen her cultural cachet skyrocket since a risque performance with Thicke at the VMAs introduced millions of people to “twerking.”

Since then she has been on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine and hosted last week's "Saturday Night Live."

“It's huge. Miley is definitely the most talked-about celebrity in the last couple months,” said Tommy Chuck, program manager for 93.3 FLZ. “The current hit is 'Wrecking Ball' and it may be the best song she has ever released. We're honored to have her. It's going to generate a lot of buzz. Who knows what the heck she's going to do, wear, say. We're excited to find out.”

The station is also expanding on the Pre-Show Free Show it introduced last year, where artists will perform a free, public concert in the West Plaza outside the Forum at 3 p.m. the day of Jingle Ball. This year's pre-show lineup will include Tegan and Sara, Travie McCoy, Austin Mahone and Fifth Harmony. Those artists will also perform inside the Forum as part of the main concert.

“We're really lucky to get a lot of great pop shows coming through Tampa, but this is the one show per year that just saying the name, 'Jingle Ball,' without even knowing who's coming, you know it's going to be a star-studded night,” Chuck said. “The concert happens in December, and we start getting calls in January from people wanting to know about the next one.”

Tickets, priced at $46, $61, $76, $100 and $181, will go on sale exclusively to 93.3 FLZ Online Prize Pig club members through Ticketmaster outlets at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Fans can register for the club for free at 933FLZ.com. Chase cardholders can begin purchasing tickets at 5 p.m. Wednesday by visiting iHeartRadio.com/chase. Remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public Oct. 19 at noon through ticketmaster.com.

The station is donating $1 from every ticket sold to the Ryan Seacrest Foundation, which is dedicated to inspiring youths through entertainment and education-focused initiatives, a station news release said.
