Busch Gardens will soon premiere a new, permanent stage show featuring characters from the animated film franchise “Madagascar.”

Beginning May 18, “Madagascar Live! Operation Vacation” will feature Alex the Lion, Gloria the Hippo and King Julien on stage with singers, dancers and a live band for a party-themed show that encourages the audience to dance along.

The 20-minute show is moving into the park's Stanleyville Theater, which was recently renovated into an indoor theater with air conditioning.

In celebration, the park is planning special events for the show's opening weekend on May 18 and 19, including appearances by animal expert and TV personality Jack Hannah.

Hannah will share animal facts and travel stories, meet fans and sign autographs during shows at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. both days.

There will also be dance performances, animal encounters and chances to meet the “Madagascar” characters around the park on both days, as well as a fireworks show on May 18.

Regular admission tickets for the park are $85 for adults and $77 for children.
