Lowry Park Zoo empties warehouse for White Elephant Sale

Published:   |   Updated: June 28, 2013 at 03:37 PM

Ever felt the need to own a giant candy corn? How about a life-sized werewolf in a gold-trimmed jacket?

Lowry Park Zoo will have those oddities, plus hundreds of other unique items up for grabs at its White Elephant Sale, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The zoo swag, ranging in price from a few bucks to hundreds of dollars, will include Christmas and Halloween decorations used at Wild Wonderland and ZooBoo events, as well as retail fixtures, landscaping items and merchandising supplies.

The zoo, which held its first and only other White Elephant Sale in 2010, said it's selling off the items to make room in its warehouse.

You might want to show up early. The zoo is allowing shoppers to line up outside the event space to the west of the main entrance, before the gates open. Annual zoo passholders will be allowed to enter the sale an hour early, at 8 a.m.

Zoo admission is not required to browse the sale, and both cash and credit cards will be accepted.

If you purchase an item that's too big for your car (an Easter Island head statue replica maybe?), the zoo will let you make arrangements to pick it up later.
